![]() ![]() Overall Review: If you are looking for a cheap video-in solution, this card is great. ENCORE TV TUNER PATCHWhile not a problem with the card itself, I had a bit of an issue while initially recording video.what occurred, was small synchronous blips of static that would appear in my recordings every 5 seconds or so, but it turned out to be a simple IRQ problem (whenever video data was written to the SATA drive, a small patch of static would appear in part of the field of the video recording), and once I changed the card's IRQ, the issue vanished. No official Linux support (c'mon guys!), though you can get the basics working anyway (without the FM radio). if you aren't in an area with strong FM radio signals, it's a bit weak on that point.Ģ. The FM radio worked fine for me, though as others have said, the reception isn't really the strongest.Ĭons: Most of the issues are very minor considering the price.ġ. While it will receive it fine via a coax cable, this isn't going to work as a channel changer for digital cable.however, it works fine with analog cable or analog tv signals (till they stop broadcasting those analog tv signals next year, at least). While I didn't buy this for the tv-tuner or fm radio, I was happy to find that both seem to work pretty good. My computer never seems to break a sweat. I'm surprised at how few resources it seems to use, even on high quality settings, and I'm using an older Abit NF7-S + Athlon XP 2500+ (overclocked to 2000 mhz). I mainly bought it for simple video-in capture, as I have a lot of old camcorder & vhs tapes that I wanted to digitize.and this thing really shines at that job. Pros: Normally, I wouldn't give much of anything 5 stars, but the price to quality ratio of this card is fantastic - the $17 price tag makes this thing a steal. Im not sure why, but when I reboot everything is fine. For beginers it is nice, this is my first Tuner and I love it.Īlso, when ever I unplug or plug something into the tuner while the computer is on, I get an auto-shutdown, and a fatal error. They are really problems that can be solved easily. Overall Review: For the price it is a very good buy, even though I have listed many cons. ![]() ENCORE TV TUNER SOFTWAREAlso there is no software that can help you edit the video (like for cutting comercials) but that really isnt that big of a deal. I recorded 17 min video (avi) and it came out to 13 GB (but after I compressed it into MPEG4 it was about 150 MBs). The user-Manual had very little discription (but still it wasnt to hard to understand). ENCORE TV TUNER TRIALNice Remote.Ĭons: Recording sound can be trial and error, you need the right seetings for what you have hooked up. Comes with a nice variety of useful cords. Pros: The price was amazing.I got this when it cost 27 with a 27 mail-in rebate, so basically free.
